Earth Environmental & Geotechnical Regional Office South was commissioned to complete a Phase 1 Desk Study and Site Investigation in Reading.
The existing housing facilities were to be demolished and redeveloped into new two-storey residential dwellings, and the present wooded area would be developed into an eco-enhancement area.
The phase 1 desk-top study included a site walkover and reviewed the environmental setting and site history to make preliminary risk assessments for contamination and geotechnical constraints, which highlighted possible contamination from a proximal sewage works and potential onsite asbestos.
Earth Environmental & Geotechnical subsequently undertook ground investigation works comprising of six shallow boreholes (utilising Window Sampling techniques), insitu TRL DCP tests (Dynamic Cone Penetrometer) test, and ground gas and groundwater level monitoring. Results from the ground investigation enabled Earth Environmental & Geotechnical to advise on foundation design and provide revised risk assessments for contamination.
Our Reading office was commissioned to undertake a geo-environmental desk-top study and subsequent ground investigation in an unoccupied residential property to examine ground conditions for foundation design, and to assess the soil and ground gas contamination levels for the future development.
All site investigation works were supervised full time by experienced Earth Environmental Consultants and all fieldworks were carried out in accordance with BS5930:2015+A1:2020 and BS10175:2011 + A2:2017. BS 5930:2015 Code of Practice for Site Investigations
