Poole Borough Council requested a ground conditions survey at the base of an existing coffer dam in Poole, Dorset, in preparation for piling activities.
The site was a restricted access site at the base of an existing coffer dam. The boreholes were undertaken using a Comacchio Dual Purpose rig, which was craned in and out of the working area to coincide with tidal patterns. The area was pumped dry before working commenced.
The excavation was partly backfilled with compacted granular fill to provide a safe working platform/surface for the drilling rig. A series of boreholes were drilled to confirm the ground conditions and assist in pile design.
