Earth Environmental & Geotechnical were commissioned to complete Geotechnical Site Investigation Combined with Archaeological Investigation in Abingdon, Oxfordshire
The geotechnical site investigation was to undertake a ground investigation to investigate ground conditions for geotechnical design at a site in Frilford. EEGSL had earlier been commissioned to carry out soak-away testing on this site, however, the client then required further geotechnical investigation and requested it to be combined with current archaeological investigations on site.
The initial soakaway testing to calculate soil infiltration rates was carried out 2 months earlier with two trial pits. In the second investigation, trenches from the archaeological investigation were utilized to carry out dynamic probe testing was carried out using a Mackintosh Probe and to take samples for geotechnical classification. Two more trial pits were also inspected for these assessments.
The site investigation was designed and supervised full time by an experienced Earth Environmental Consultant and all fieldworks were carried out in accordance with BS 5930:2015 Code of Practice for Site Investigations
EEGSL successfully carried out the site investigation combined with the assessment with an archaeological team. The works culminated with the production of a factual and interpretative Geotechnical Report for the assessment site.
