Asbestos Sampling, Widnes | Earth Environmental & Geotechnical

A previously remediated site (2012) in Asbestos Sampling, Widnes was sampled for asbestos in shallow soils, after fragments of cement board were observed during a reconnaissance walk over survey. The site is being developed for a retail end use with a planned start on site of January 2019.

The testing results showed very high concentrations of asbestos fibres in the capping horizon, which had become disturbed over time by construction activities on an adjacent residential development.

As a result of the high concentrations of asbestos sampling, a Remedial Strategy has been developed together with an Asbestos Management Plan.

As part of the construction work, staff will supervise the placement of a new capping horizon and monitor the working environnent, for possible asbestos dust in air.
